1575/2025: BANDARAWELA, DIYATALAWA, HAPUTALE, HALI-ELA AND WELIMADA: DRINKING WATER PROBLEM

Hon. Ravindra Bandara,—To ask the Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply,— (1)

(a) Will he inform this House —

(i) whether he is aware that drinking water is supplied to Bandarawela town and its surrounding areas once in seven days;

(ii) whether he is aware that similar water problems also exist in the Diyatalawa, Haputale, Mirahawatte, Kurukunde, and Dayaraba areas;

(iii) whether the present government has  initiated a project to solve the water problem in the Bandarawela, Diyatalawa, Haputale, Hali-Ela and Welimada areas;

(iv) if so, of the date on which the said project was initiated;

(v) of the number of phases planned for the said project;

(vi) of the areas covered by the first phase;

(vii) of the estimated cost for the first phase; and

(viii) of the expected date by which the said  project will provide 24-hour water supply to the areas surrounding Bandarawela?

(b) If not, why?
