Hon. Ajith P. Perera,— To ask the Minister of Justice and National Integration,— (2)
(a) Will he inform this House whether the —
(i) Sentencing Policy and Guidelines that should be followed by judges when sentencing accused persons convicted in criminal cases exist within the legal system of Sri Lanka; and
(ii) report of the committee appointed to prepare the Sentencing Policy and Guidelines for criminal cases will be presented to the House?
(b) Will he also inform this House of the forthcoming measures that will be taken to formulate Sentencing Policy and Guidelines for judges, assisting them in imposing fair sentences, which is crucial for the administration of criminal justice in Sri Lanka?
(c) If not, why?
