Hon. Stepni Fernando,— To ask the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development,—(1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the total extent of land in Ragama town owned by the Urban Development Authority;
(ii) whether there are unauthorized business establishements in the said land; and
(iii) if so, of the number of them?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that shops have been constructed surrounding the Police Post which is located on the land owned by the Urban Development Authority, at the starting point of the flyover in front of the entrance gate of the Colombo North Teaching Hospital;
(ii) whether the field officers of the Authority in charge of Ragama town informed the Authority in this regard at the commencement of construction of these shops;
(iii) if so, of the steps taken in this regard;
(iv) whether the constructions have been removed accordingly; and
(v) if not, of the measures to be taken to remove such constructions?
(c) If not, why?
