Hon. W. H. M. Dharmasena,— To ask the Minister of Energy,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that it has been informed by the Ceylon Electricity Board that when supplying electricity to apartments and shopping complexes, the persons/institutions owning the apartments and the shops concerned are required to purchase new electricity transformers, and as a result, they are facing great inconveniences;
(ii) whether he accepts that entrepreneurs and the residents of the apartments have to bear a huge cost due to this notification issued by the Ceylon Electricity Board to the effect that the transformers of the Ceylon Electricity Board are not used and the electricity applicants should purchase transformers; and
(iii) of the measures that will be taken to supply electricity to apartments and shopping complexes without delay using the transformers of the Ceylon Electricity Board?
(b) If not, why?
