Hon.Imran Maharoof,— To ask the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education,— (1)
(a) Will she inform this House —
(i) whether she is aware that the Trincomalee District Office, the Trincomalee District Training Centre and the Kinniya Training Centre of the National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA) are being operated in privately owned buildings on a lease basis;
(ii) if so, of the monthly lease amounts paid for each of such buildings, separately;
(iii) of the courses offered at these centres, separately; and
(iv) of the reasons as to why the courses that were previously scheduled to be offered at these centres are not being offered at present?
(b) Will she also inform this House —
(i) whether she is aware that the building, constructed on 13 acres of land allotted by the Land Reform Commission for the establishment of a University College in the Kinniya Divisional Secretariat, using a Rs. 50 million budgetary allocation in 2018, has been abandoned at present; and
(ii) whether measures will be taken to relocate the office and training centres referred to in (a) (i) above to the said building?
(c) If not, why?
