Hon. M.S. Abthul Wazeeth,—To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that there are a large number of people engaged in animal husbandry in the Ampara District and that adequate grazing fields are not available for their cattle;
(ii) whether steps will be taken to provide grazing fields for the cattle in the areas of the Pottuvil and the other Divisional Secretariat Divisions in the Ampara District;
(iii) if not, of the obstacles that hinder such action; and
(iv) whether steps will be taken to establish a state-of-the-art milk collection centre in the Pottuvil Divisional Secretariat Division in order to increase the milk production and the income of those engaged in animal husbandry in the said area thereby contributing to the growth of the country's economy?
(b) If not, why?
