Hon. Dharmapriya Dissanayake,—To ask the Minister of Energy,— (1)
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) all local authorities in Sri Lanka use street lighting lamps; and
(ii) the Ceylon Electricity Board has not levied any charges for that so far?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether the Ceylon Electricity Board has decided to impose charges on local authorities for the use of street lighting lamps;
(ii) if so, of the relevant billing mechanism used for that;
(iii) whether he agrees that the above charge will cause difficulties for low- income local authorities;
(iv) if so, whether a solution will be provided for that; and
(v) if so, of such solution?
(c) If not, why?
