Hon. Ravindra Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that a state land of approximately five acres in extent in the Harakgamakanda village, in the Alankalagala Grama Niladhari Division, in the Welimada Divisional Secretariat Division, was allocated to the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC);
(ii) whether the said land was properly disposed to the SLBC;
(iii) whether he is aware that the said land has been subleased to a third party by the SLBC;
(iv) whether that is legal;
(v) of the name of the said third party; and
(vi) of the amount of outstanding lease rental due from the said third party?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether approval has been given to mortgage the said land to a private bank to obtain a loan while there is outstanding lease rental;
(ii) if so, whether the said act is not illegal;
(iii) whether the Land Commissioner General’s Department has violated the law in transferring the said land and in granting approval to obtain a loan while there is outstanding lease rental; and
(iv) whether steps will be taken to repossess the said land by the government?
(c) If not, why?
