Hon. Thilina Samarakoon,—To ask the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the name of the institution from which tyres and tubes for the buses of the Sri Lanka Transport Board are purchased;
(ii) whether the supply capacity of that institution is sufficient; and
(iii) of the tender period given for the supply of tyres and tubes?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) of the standard of tyres and tubes purchased for the Sri Lanka Transport Board;
(ii) whether the quality of the tyres and tubes currently being used are sufficient to enable smooth transportation;
(iii) whether he is aware that foreign exchange is being spent on the current purchase of tyres and tubes; and
(iv) if so, whether there is the possibility to use locally manufactured tyres and tubes for that purpose?
(c) If not, why?
