Hon. Sujeewa Dissanayake,— To ask the Minister of Justice and National Integration,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) name of the first prison that was established in Sri Lanka;
(ii) number of inmates that were held in that prison when it commenced operations;
(iii) number of prisons that are in Sri Lanka at present;
(iv) names of the said prisons;
(v) number of inmates currently held in each of the said prisons, separately for male and female inmates; and
(vi) cell space allocated per inmate in a prison in square feet?
(b) Will he also inform this House of the —
(i) name of the largest prison in the North Western Province;
(ii) maximum number of inmates that can be held in the said prison; and
(iii) average number of inmates that were held in the said prison on a single day in August 2025?
(c) If not, why?
