Hon. K. Kader Masthan,—To ask the Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) separately, of the number of Samurdhi Development Officers serving in the Vavuniya District and the current number of vacancies for the position;
(ii) whether new officers will be recruited to fill the vacancies referred to above;
(iii) whether he is aware that the Samurdhi Development Officers currently serving have been serving in the same Divisional Secretariat Division for many years;
(iv) whether they can be transferred to other Divisional Secretariat Divisions;
(v) whether he is aware that Samurdhi Development Officers in the Vavuniya District have been appointed on political basis in the recent past; and
(vi) whether a situation has arisen where transfers cannot be granted to those Samurdhi Development Officers as a result of that?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that internal inquiry are being conducted against some Samurdhi Development Officers in the Vavuniya District for committing financial fraud; and
(ii) if so, of the current progress of those inquiries?
(c) If not, why?
