Hon. (Prof.) L.M. Abeywickrama,—To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House, separately for each year from 2020 to 2025 of the —
(i) number of bulls used to obtain bovine semen at the Central Artificial Insemination Centre in Kundasale which operates under the Department of Animal Production and Health;
(ii) quantity of bovine semen produced at the said Centre and the quantity of bovine semen imported;
(iii) number of calves born through artificial insemination at the said Centre; and
(iv) number of bulls imported to Sri Lanka?
(b) Will he also inform this House of the advantages of importing bovine semen for breeding purposes instead of importing bulls to obtain semen?
(c) If not, why?
