Hon. Major General (Rtd.) G.D. Sooriyabandara,—To ask the Minister of Health and Mass Media,— (2)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) number of teaching hospitals established to date;
(ii) areas where the said hospitals have been established;
(iii) objectives of establishing a teaching hospital; and
(iv) basic facilities that should be available in such a hospital?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether a medical faculty has been linked to every teaching hospital;
(ii) whether a professorial unit has been established in every such hospital;
(iii) of the teaching hospitals that have and those that do not have a professorial unit established, separately;
(iv) separately, of the medical faculties that are linked to the said hospitals;
(v) whether it had been intended to establish a professorial unit at the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital for the clinical training of medical students of the Wayamba University when that Hospital was turned to a teaching hospital;
(vi) if so, whether that unit will be established in due course;
(vii) if not, of the reasons; and
(viii) of the facilities that have been provided by the present government to the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital?
(c) If not, why?
