Hon. Susantha Kumara Nawarathna,—To ask the Minister of Environment,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the wildlife zones existing in each district of Sri Lanka at present, separately;
(ii) of the extent of land belonging to each such zone, separately;
(iii) whether the tanks, reservoirs and lakes available for wildlife within the wildlife zones have been identified;
(iv) if so, of the number of them as per each wildlife zone, separately; and
(v) of the number of tanks, reservoirs and lakes that have been renovated or constructed within the said wildlife zones, separately?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) of the elephant corridors that have been scientifically identified by the Department of Wildlife Conservation;
(ii) whether steps have been taken to gazette them;
(iii) if so, of the number of elephant corridors that have been gazetted so far; and
(iv) if the identified elephant corridors have not yet been gazetted, of the reasons for it?
(c) If not, why?
