Hon. Suranga Rathnayaka,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he state —
(i) the number of dairy farmers in Sri Lanka and the daily milk production in litres;
(ii) the number of dairy farmers in the Anuradhapura District and the daily milk production of the said district in litres;
(iii) the amount of money that is currently being paid per litre of milk;
(iv) whether the said amount has been revised recently;
(v) if so, the reasons for that; and
(vi) the steps that will be taken to uplift the livelihood of dairy farmers?
(b) Will he also state —
(i) whether the government expects to purchase paddy during the 2025/2026 Maha season;
(ii) whether loans will be provided to private businessmen for the purchase of paddy;
(iii) whether loans will also be provided to the businessmen who have been blacklisted by the Paddy Marketing Board;
(iv) whether a fair price will be given for a kilo of paddy; and
(v) if so, the price separately for each variety of paddy?
(c) If not, why?
