Hon. Thurairasa Ravikaran,—To ask the Minister of Health and Mass Media,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that internship training for doctors is not provided at the Mullaitivu and Mannar General Hospitals;
(ii) of the reasons for the unfilled vacancies of specialist doctors in the Mullaitivu and Mannar General Hospitals, even though more than four specialist doctors approved by the Medical Council are working in most of the base hospitals;
(iii) whether he admits that the failure and inequality of the government health service is evident from the need to send patients to other district hospitals for basic medical examinations and consultations due to insufficient resources; and
(iv) whether a policy decision will be taken to ensure the availability of adequate staff and physical resources for all district hospitals in Sri Lanka, including the said hospitals?
(b) If not, why?
