Hon. Ravindra Bandara,—To ask the Minister of Defence,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) number of soldiers/ officers who have deserted the Sri Lanka Air Force;
(ii) number of those among them who have been arrested by the Sri Lanka Police and who have surrendered, separately;
(iii) action to be taken concerning them; and
(iv) time taken to remove them from the Sri Lanka Air Force?
(b) Will he also inform the House —
(i) whether he is aware that arrangements are being made to purchase a C-130 aircraft to the Sri Lanka Air Force;
(ii) of the number of C-130 aircraft currently in the possession of the Sri Lanka Air Force;
(iii) of the times when maintenance activities were last conducted on the aircraft concerned;
(iv) of the objective of purchasing a new C-130 aircraft;
(v) whether the new C-130 aircraft is a donation or a purchase; and
(vi) how the intended objective has been satisfied so far?
(c) If not, why?
