Hon. Lieutenant Commander (Rtd.) Prageeth Madhuranga,— To ask the Minister of Defence,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the number of personnel who have been recruited to the Tri Forces for professional duties under direct entry by now for each Force, separately;
(ii) of the professions into which they have been recruited;
(iii) of the reasons for recruiting them under that classification;
(iv) whether there are differences between military personnel recruited under the above classification and other military personnel in deploying to perform duties;
(v) if so, of those differences; and
(vi) whether military personnel recruited under the above classification are given the same ranks and promotions as other military personnel?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether the personnel recruited under the said classification will be removed, if the Tri Forces are reorganized;
(ii) whether a count has been taken regarding it;
(iii) if so, of that count;
(iv) whether a discussion has occurred regarding a programme about the military personnel who would be removed, scheduled to be removed and sent on retirement during such reorganization; and
(v) if so, of such programme?
(c) If not, why?
