1118/2025: DISABLED MILITARY PERSONNEL: RELIEFS/ ALLOWANCES PROVIDED

Hon. Lieutenant Commander (Rtd.) Prageeth Madhuranga,—To ask the Minister of Defence,— (1)

(a) Will he inform  this House—

(i) of the reliefs / allowances provided to military personnel who  suppose to be on active service but are not, due to their disability;

(ii) of the reliefs / allowances provided to their dependents, if they pass away after retirement on medical grounds;

(iii) whether those reliefs / allowances are adequate; and

(iv) if not, whether steps have been taken to increase those reliefs /allowances?

(b) Will he also inform this House—

(i) of the reliefs / allowances provided to their dependents if they pass away while on active service before retirement;

(ii) whether any relief / allowance is currently provided to military personnel who did not report for duty due to disability and were later dismissed on the basis that their services were not required;

(iii) if not, of the reasons for the same;

(iv) whether he accepts that a relief / allowance should be given to them;

(v) if so, whether steps have been taken to provide it; and

(vi) of such steps?

(c) If not, why?
