Hon. Thurairasa Ravikaran,— To ask the Minister of Health and Mass Media,— (1)
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) a permanent building is not available for male and female patients’ wards at the Mullaitivu District General Hospital and those wards are housed in temporary buildings;
(ii) the planning was commenced for the construction of a permanent building for those wards with aid from the Government of India during the period 2017-2018; and
(iii) the soil test was conducted for the construction in the year 2024?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the reasons for not commencing the construction of the building so far;
(ii) if the plan concerned is still in effect, of the date on which the construction work of the said building will be commenced; and
(iii) if the construction work of the building has been suspended or cancelled, of the reasons for it?
(c) If not, why?
