1105/2025: APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTORS TO ROAD DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY: DELAY

Hon. Gnanamuththu Srineshan,—To ask the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation,— (1)

(a) Will he accept that —

(i) the present government conducted interviews in stages for the appointment of 39 permanent directors to the Road Development Authority (RDA);

(ii) 05 provincial directors and 34 directors were selected during those interviews and the Chairman of the Authority referred their names to the Board of Directors for approval;

(iii) although approximately six months has elapsed, appointments have not yet been given; and

(iv) the employees who have served the Authority for many years approaching retirement are expecting promotions, which is fair?

(b) Will he inform this House —

(i) of the reasons for not giving the appointments concerned yet;

(ii) whether any impediments exist for making such appointments;

(iii) of those impediments;

(iv) whether measures are taken to remove such impediments;

(v) whether he is aware that the delay in making the above appointments adversely affects the efficiency of the government; and

(vi) of the date on which the above appointments will be effected?

(c) If not, why?
