Hon. (Mrs.) M.A.C.S. Chathuri Gangani,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the date on which the project to construct the canal from the ‘Kuda Oya’ river to the ‘Debara Ara’ reservoir in the Wellawaya Divisional Secretariat Division implemented by the Department of Irrigation was commenced;
(ii) of the total amount of money that was allocated for the project concerned;
(iii) of the sources from which funds were channelled for the project;
(iv) whether the proper procurement procedures have been followed during the project; and
(v) if so, whether the relevant information will be tabled?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) of the name of the contractor of the project referred to above;
(ii) of the institution that provided technical assistance and carried out the supervision for the project;
(iii) of the method used for the disposal of the rocks and soil excavated during the construction of this canal; and
(iv) whether the intended objective of this project has been achieved by now?
(c) If not, why?
