Hon. Thurairasa Ravikaran,— To ask the Minister of Health and Mass Media,— (1)
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) 454 Healthcare Assistants selected after a formal interview conducted in the year 2019 for recruitment to the permanent post of the Healthcare Assistants Service (Grade III) in the Northern Province have not hitherto been recruited;
(ii) the recruitment referred to above has got delayed because the approval from the Ministry of Finance has not been received; and
(iii) the prevalence of 643 vacancies in the above post has become a hindrance to the maintenance of health services in the Northern Province?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the administrative or legal constraints that impede the recruitment of these Healthcare Assistants, despite the fact that appointment letters were issued in the year 2019; and
(ii) whether steps will be taken to recruit them expeditiously?
(c) If not, why?
