Hon. Padmasiri Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that there is a national cricket stadium in Hingurakgoda in Polonnaruwa;
(ii) whether he admits that a function was held at that stadium in 2024 and that a large sum of money was unnecessarily spent on it;
(iii) if so, whether an investigation has been initiated in that regard; and
(iv) if not, of the actions that will be taken in that regard?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that there is a national stadium in Polonnaruwa;
(ii) of the total expenditure spent on the construction of the said sports complex;
(iii) whether he is aware that many parts of that sports complex have collapsed due to construction weaknesses; and
(iv) if so, of the measures that will be taken in that regard?
(c) If not, why?
