Hon. Ajith Gihan,—To ask the Minister of Environment,— (1)
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) the coastal belt in the Puttalam District is severely affected by sea erosion, resulting in the losing of land, property, and even religious statues to the sea; and
(ii) although the Department of Coast Conservation and the Department of Coastal Resources Management intervened and worked to prevent the sea erosion, adequate financial provisions have not been allocated by the previous regimes to address the issue?
(b) Will he inform this House of the measures taken to prevent sea erosion on the coastal belt of the Puttalam District?
(c) If not, why?
