Hon. W. H. M. Dharmasena,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the date on which the Kumbukkan Oya project was commenced;
(ii) whether he is aware that steps had been taken by the previous Yahapalana (Good Governance) regime to develop the Nakkala Anicut under that Project;
(iii) of the amount of money that had been allocated for that purpose;
(iv) of the number of farming families who would benefit from the development of the Anicut concerned;
(v) whether steps have been taken to provide alternative lands to the respective landowners for the lands submerged by the reservoir due to the development activities concerned;
(vi) whether he is aware that the development activities have stalled currently; and
(vii) if so, of the measures that will be taken to recommence the said development activities?
(b) If not, why?
