Hon. S.M. Marikkar,— To ask the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs,—(1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that the Department of Immigration and Emigration has ceased issuing Emergency Certificates (EC passports) with effect from 24.12.2024;
(ii) of the reasons that led to this situation; and
(iii) of the alternative that has been made available for pilgrims travelling to India and Nepal for pilgrimages, and for patients travelling to India to receive medical treatment for various ailments?
(b) If not, why ?
