Hon. Rohana Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he is aware that an anicut named ‘Senakapura Yaya’ has been constructed at Meewellawa, Thirappane in the Anuradhapura District;
(ii) of the amount spent on the construction of the aforementioned anicut;
(iii) of the number of farming families benefiting from the said anicut;
(iv) of the extent of paddy land irrigated by the said anicut;
(v) whether he is aware that farmers are facing difficulties as paddy fields are getting filled with sand due to the anicut; and
(vi) if so, of the measures that will be taken to resolve the said problem?
(b) If not, why?
