Hon. Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam,— To ask the Minister of Transport, Highways and Urban Development,— (1)
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the Vantharumoolai railway station is located in the Eravur Pattu Divisional Secretariat Division of the Batticaloa District;
(ii) only the slow trains stop at that railway station while no express train does; and
(iii) if steps are taken to schedule express trains to stop there, not only students studying at the Eastern University, but also residents of the villages of Vantharumoolai, Palachcholai, Kommanthurai, Orumulachcholai, Kaluwankeni, Mavadivembu, Sittandy, and Chenkaladi, will benefit from that?
(b) If so, will he inform this House whether steps will be taken to schedule express trains to make a stop at the said railway station?
(c) If not, why?
