Hon. Ravi Karunanayake,—To ask the Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) current value of assets owned by the Samurdhi Bank;
(ii) number of Samurdhi Banks and Samurdhi General Societies in Sri Lanka, separately; and
(iii) current value of assets owned by all Samurdhi General Societies?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether Samurdhi Banks fall under the scrutiny of Central Bank of Sri Lanka;
(ii) if not, of the reasons for their exclusion; and
(iii) of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Samurdhi Bank?
(c) Will he further inform this House of the —
(i) profit/loss of Samurdhi Bank for the last 10 years separately;
(ii) balance sheet value of Samurdhi Bank for the last 10 years separately;
(iii) shareholders of the Samurdhi Bank; and
(iv) interest paid to the depositors and lending rate to the borrowers as adjusted by the Samurdhi Bank, separately?
(d) If not, why?
