Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara, Attorney at Law,— To ask the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the current market prices per kilogram of Nadu rice and Samba rice separately;
(ii) whether action will be taken to reduce the price of rice;
(iii) whether a price controls will be introduced for rice; and
(iv) if so, what the prices will be?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether rice reserves are being maintained with government intervention to provide rice to consumers without shortage;
(ii) if so, what the quantities of such reserves are; and
(iii) of the course of action is being taken regarding rice imports?
(c) If not, why?
