Hon. Chamara Sampath Dasanayake, — To ask the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development,— (1)

(a) Will he inform this House —

(i) of the quantity of rice that has been imported to Sri Lanka in metric tons, as decided at the first Cabinet meeting of the current government;

(ii) of the price at which the imported rice is sold to consumers;

(iii) whether  the government has data on paddy and rice stocks available in government and private sector warehouses; and

(iv) what benefits are accrued by importing rice while a fertilizer subsidy has been provided to paddy farmers?

(b) If not, why?
