Hon. Mayantha Dissanayake,— To ask the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the tax revenue lost by the government to date from December 2019 due to the reduction of taxes fulfilling a pledge given at the 2019 Presidential Election;
(ii) of the ways of which the lost amount was recovered due to the aforesaid reduction of taxes;
(iii) whether the aforesaid reduction of taxes has hindered providing relief to the public; and
(iv) whether a decision has been taken to increase the taxes that were reduced?
(b) If not, why?
