Hon. Niroshan Perera,— To ask the Minister of Defence,—
(a) Will he inform this House of the—
(i) number of foreign fishing vessels taken into custody by the Sri Lanka Navy in the year 2023;
(ii) countries where those vessels have been registered; and
(iii) number of persons arrested during such incidents?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether Sri Lanka Navy submitted recommendations to the government to prevent illegal entry of fishing vessels into Sri Lankan waters;
(ii) if so, the aforesaid recommendation;
(iii) the recommendations, among them, have not been implemented so far; and
(iv) the reasons for not implementing those recommendations?
(c) If not, why?
