Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Minister of Industries,—
(a) Will he admit that—
(i) the skyrocketing of the prices of materials including papers utilized for printing purposes has contributed towards the collapse of businesses related to the printing industry; and
(ii) this situation has created a seriously negative impact on the studies of the school children?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the actions that will be taken to control the aforesaid situation;
(ii) separately of the amount of papers produced monthly by the government and the private sector by now;
(iii) Whether measures have been taken to commence factories to promote local paper manufacturing in order to minimize the import of paper; and
(iv) if so, of the relevant progress by now?
(c) If not, why?
