Hon. Upul Mahendra Rajapaksha,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture,—
(a) Will he accept that—
(i) the majority of pineapple growers of Sri Lanka are within the Gampaha district; and
(ii) a considerable amount of foreign exchange is earned through export of pineapple?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the status that the Sri Lankan pineapple has achieved in the international market;
(ii) the steps that will be taken to encourage pineapple growers; and
(iii) the steps that will be taken to expand pineapple cultivation?
(c) If not, why?
