Hon. Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam,— To ask the Minister of Health,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he is aware that it is only up to Grade DH-C that the Palukamam Regional Hospital has been upgraded;
(ii) if so, whether he will take steps to upgrade that Hospital either to Grade DH-B or to DH-A; and
(iii) the date on which the Hospital concerned will be upgraded to Grade DH-B or Grade DH-A?
(b) Is he aware that—
(i) the pregnant women who seek its services face various difficulties due to lack of necessary equipment (CTG machine, warmer) at the Obstetrics Unit of the Hospital; and
(ii) no equipment necessary for the emergency treatment section is available at the hospital?
(c) If so, will he inform this House—
(i) whether steps will be taken to provide this Hospital with necessary equipment; and
(ii) the date on which such equipment will be provided?
(d) If not, why?
