Hon. Gayantha Karunatilleka,— To ask the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies,—
(a) Will he inform the House—
(i) of the amounts of foreign exchange remitted to Sri Lanka in the years 2018 and 2021 by Sri Lankan migrant workers employed overseas, separately in respect of each year;
(ii) whether he accepts that the exchange value offered by the Commercial Banks for US dollars being lower than the exchange value in the market worked as the reason for the decrease in the volume of foreign exchange remitted by Sri Lankan migrant workers employed overseas in the year 2021; and
(iii) if so, what courses of action will be taken in this regard?
(b) If not, why?
