Hon. Harin Fernando,— To ask the Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Management,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) unauthorized cultivators cultivate the tank beds of Nagadeepa and Mapakada reservoirs when the water level of those reservoirs recede ; and
(ii) those reservoirs are damaged by the silting up caused by those unauthorized cultivation activities carried out in the tank reserves for several years?
(b) Will he inform this House, whether any legal action will be taken against those unauthorized cultivators in order to stop the damage that they cause to the said reservoirs?
(c) If not, why
