Hon. Harin Fernando,— To ask the Minister of Co-operatives and Internal Trade,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the vegetable cultivators in Welimada are inconvenienced owing to the improper administration of the Keppetipola Dedicated Economic Centre;
(ii) this Centre, where farmers cannot fetch and good price for their vegetables and payments are not properly made for their products has become a place and that the farmers have lost their credibility in this Economic Centre ?
(b) Will he inform this House whether arrangements will be made speedily to—
(i) develop and implement a programme that can do away with this situation and prevent problems between the farmer and the trader while building confidence in the farmer on the Economic Centre;
(ii) implement a programme which will prevent exploitation of farmers by getting the help of the Price Control Unit and the Weighing and Measuring Unit for checking the stalls at this Economic Centre ?
(c) If not, why ?
