Hon. Chandima Gamage,— To ask the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) the Maha Wewa bridge situated at Grama Niladhari Division No.635 in Kekirawa Pradeshiya Sabha area of Anuradhapura district is in a dilapidated condition;
(ii) an estimate, requesting funds for the renovation of the bridge has been forwarded to your Ministry by the Commissioner of Local Government of the North Central Province;
(iii) the Secretary to the Ministry has not provided funds for the purpose so far; and
(iv) around 7000 farmers living in 8 villages will face difficulties in transportation if the bridge is destroyed during the upcoming rainy season?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether measures will be taken to renovate this bridge; and
(ii) if so, the time that will take for the purpose?
(c) If not, why ?
