Hon. (Dr.) Bandula Gunawardane,— To ask the Minister of Finance,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the nature of crises that Share Market brokers were faced with as stated in budget proposal No. 288 of the 2016 budget;
(ii) of the manner in which the government made its interventions in order to resolve the aforesaid crises;
(iii) whether data will be presented to this House in the form of a table pertaining to the number of brokers operating in the Sri Lankan Share Market during the period from year 2014 to 2016, their regional distribution and the amount of broker transactions that had taken place during that period; and
(iv) of the names of the share market brokers who joined together during year 2016?
(b) If not, why?
