Hon. Vasudeva Nanayakkara,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training & Skills Development and Youth Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) whether he would admit that the former Subject Minister had stated before the media that the Sub Inspectors of Police who have completed a period over 8 years of service in that post would be promoted to the post of Inspector of Police;
(ii) whether he is aware that those officers have become greatly disappointed as the aforesaid promotions have not been given to them so far;
(iii) whether steps would be taken to give them the said promotions accordingly; and
(iv) if so, of the date from which such promotions would be effective?
(b) If not, why?
