Hon. Arundika Fernando,— To ask the Minister of Rehabilitation and Prison Reforms,—
(a) Will he inform this House of —
(i) the total number of prison inmates who were imprisoned as convicts and suspects by the end of year 2009; and
(ii) the total prisoner capacity in the existing prisons?
(b) Will he submit to this House —
(i) whether there is a program to set up new prisons to minimize the congestion in prisons; and
(ii) if so, what it is?
(c) If not, why?
