Business Passed in the House Today


In today’s Main Business, a division by name was taken for the Second Reading of the Bill entitled “Code of Criminal Procedure (Special Provisions)” (99 in favour, 57 against). Third Reading of the Bill was passed by the House with amendments.

Thereafter, a motion moved by Hon. Sunil Handunnetti to appoint a Select Committee of Parliament to look into the shortcomings of the Department of Inland Revenue, highlighted in the Auditor General’s Report (Parliamentary Series No. 2 of the Sixth Parliament) was passed by Parliament.


The Second Reading of the following two Bills were moved and referred to Legislative Standing Committee “B”;

Consideration of the following Bills were moved and passed by the House;

Sabhawa (Incorporation)
3. Seethawaka Maniyangama Rajamaha Viharastha Sanwardhana Sabhawa (Incorporation)
4. Mahanuwara, Asgiriya, Palipana, Sri Chandananda International Buddhist Research and
Development Centre (Incorporation)
5. Ratnapura, Marapana Sastrodaya Foundation (Incorporation)
6. Young Men’s Buddhist Association, Minipe (Incorporation)
7. Sri Lanka - Nippon Educational and Cultural Centre (Incorporation)


Hon. Sajith Premadasa moved a motion at Adjournment time on the “Difficulties faced by Chena cultivators”.
