Business Passed in the House Today


At the commencement of Public Business the Hon. Minister of Highways and Road Development and the Chief Government Whip, on behalf of the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Administration and Deputy Minister of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order, presented the Bill entitled “Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy (Amendment) " to amend the Sir John Kotelawala Defence Academy Act, No.68 of 1981.

Under notice of Motions Hon. Tissa Attanayake MP was granted leave by the House to introduce the following two Private Member Bills;
(i). "Board of Korean-Lanka International Buddhist Centre (Incorporation)"
(ii). "Board of Trustee of the Hewij Trust (Incorporation)"

Further, the following three Bills entitled;
(i) Finance Leasing (Amendment)
(ii) National Insurance Trust Fund (Amendment)
(iii) Regulation of Insurance Industry (Amendment)
were taken up for second reading and passed by the House. Bills (i) and (iii) were passed with amendments.


Thereafter, in today’s Order Paper, Item No 4 to 9, Resolutions under Appropriation Act were also passed by the House.

Hon. Rajavarothiam Sampanthan moved a motion on “Muthur – (East) / Sampur High Security Zone” at the adjournment time.

The House was adjourned at 1625 Hrs
