Business Passed in the House Today


At the commencement of Public business the Honourable Leader of the House of Parliament, on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Power and Energy presented a Bill entitled ‘Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority’ to provide for the establishment of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority; Develop Renewable Energy Resources; declare Energy Development areas; implement energy efficiency measures and conservation programmes; promote Energy Security, Reliability and cost effectiveness in energy delivery and information management; repeal the Energy Conservation Fund Act, No.2 of 1985.

The Item No.1 of the Order Paper No.111 presented by the Honourable Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils, with regard to Supplementary sum not exceeding Rupees one hundred and twenty six million (Rs. 126,000,000) be payable out of the Consolidated Fund of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and No.2 of the Order Paper No.111 presented by the Hon. Minister of Higher Education with regard to Supplementary sum not exceeding Rupees fifty six million thirty seven thousand two hundred and forty (Rs. 56,037,240) be payable out of the Consolidated Fund of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka were debated and passed.

The Item No.3, presented by the Honourable Leader of the House of Parliament with regard to Select Committee of Parliament to look into the alarming increase in traffic accidents, was passed as an unopposed business.

The motion at the Adjournment Time was moved by Hon. Mavai S. Senathiraja regarding ‘Abduction of Four School Students in Jaffna and the Death Threat on the Jaffna University Community’.

The House was adjourned at 1601 Hrs.
