Ministerial Statements
Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism replied to the Question raised by the Hon. Ravi Karunanayake under the Standing Order 27(2) of the Parliament on 09.01.2026 and 20.01.2026 regarding ‘Travel bans and asset freezes imposed on Sri Lankan Nationals by UK government’ and ‘Disconnection between tourism arrival and per capita tourism earning’ respectively.
Privilege
The Privilege motion that the question of privilege arising out of the matter raised by the Hon. Speaker on 05th February, 2026 in Parliament to the effect that his privileges have been infringed, moved by the Hon. Chief Government Whip, was referred to the Committee on Ethics and Privileges in terms of the provisions of Standing Order 118 of the Parliament.
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 80 and 81 of today’s Order Paper) were approved by the House:-
(i) Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance - Division was taken (106 in favour; 02 against)
(ii) Resolution under the Essential Public Services Act
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1829 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 17th February 2026.
