Business Passed in the House Today


In today’s main business, the following Public Business were passed by the House.

Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance — the Proclamation made by the President under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act, No. 28 of 1988, bringing into operation the provisions of Part II of the Public Security Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from 02nd April 2007.

The Emergency Motion was passed with a majority of 103 votes, today the 5th of April 2007, extending it for another month.
119 votes were cast in favour of the motion while 16 votes were against it.

The “Local Authorities Elections (Amendment) Bill” was passed by a majority of 83 votes.


The House was adjourned at 1741 Hrs, till 09.30 a.m. of 8th May 2007.
