Business Passed in the House Today


At the commencement of Public Business, Hon. Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils presented the Bill entitled “Local Authorities Elections
(Amendment)” in the House to amend the Local Authorities Elections Ordinance. (Urgent Bill in terms of Article 122(1) of the Constitution)

Thereafter, the House agreed to a motion moved by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament that the following provisions shall have effect with respect to the Business of this day’s sitting:-

(a) That the Second Reading of the “Local Authorities Elections (Amendment)
Bill”, presented this day be proceeded with this day; and,

(b) That immediately after the Bill to which this order applies has been read a
second time, it shall be considered in Committee of the whole Parliament.

Thirdly, the House granted leave to introduce the Bill entitled “Nugawela Scholarship Trust Fund (Incorporation)” by Hon. Ranjith Aluvihare.

The Bill entitled “Local Authorities Elections (Amendment)” was debated and adjourned for the next day.

Hon. M. D. Namal Karunarathna moved an adjournment motion on Water Management.

The House was adjourned at 1620 Hrs.
